A Corner of Positivity

“Women Supporting Women“ by Sarah Va Xiong

Hey there!

You’ve managed to stumble upon this site, and I am so glad to have you here. Welcome!

Born out of a desperate need to distance myself from social media for my own mental well-being and a hunger to build a community based in art and positivity, I created this site and blog to share my works and process and to create more meaningful connections and relationships with others.

Social Media as An Artist

As an artist, social media can be a great way to promote your work and gain a following, but it also comes with some detrimental side effects: addiction, feelings of inadequacy, isolation, etc. I’ve struggled with my own relationship with social media and have experienced these negative side effects myself. It came to a point where my relationship with social media started to affect how I felt about my work and its worth. I realized that I was starting to put more effort into building a social media presence and focusing less and less on what mattered most: my art and building connections.

Why This Site?

This site and blog is a way for me to take my art back into my own hands and redefine what being a creator means to me. I want to mend the relationship I have with my work, while lifting up other artists along the way.

What to Expect From This Blog

In this blog, I will share my works in progress and new bodies of work, as well as introduce other small and emerging artists through interviews and featured posts. My hope is to use this platform to build a little corner of light, encouragement, and support for artists and art lovers alike.

Together, I believe that we can cultivate a community grounded in encouraging creativity, taking care of each other’s mental well-being, and celebrating and supporting artists and makers in ways that remind them that their work is worthy, regardless of their social media presence. I hope you’ll join me on this journey.

Next Steps

Right now, I am looking for artists and makers to interview and feature. Want your work to be highlighted in a post, or know someone who you’d like to see here? You can nominate them here!
